Now is a great time to join us as we invest further in our people and sleep innovation. #TeamSleepNumberPosition Purpose: - This Engineer Technician is responsible for operational efficiency in the Manufacturing and Assembly network. Improvements will often be focused on existing processes and equipment optimization. This position is heavily involved in automation of our assembly equipment, fine tuning and optimizing all equipment reducing downtime and increasing product quality. The Engineer Technician will assists mechanical engineers in and the planning and testing of new equipment.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot devices to determine root cause issues and recommend sustainable solutions
  • Responsible for developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in manufacturing operations
  • Prepares protocols, work instructions and reports to perform validation and qualification testing on product and processes
  • Monitors existing production equipment and process improvement opportunities, including yield improvements, production rate improvements, and setup time improvements
  • Train and support new engineering technicians
  • Maintain compliance to procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and assist in project work using a continuous improvement methodology
  • Owns vendor relationships with new equipment installations
  • Other duties as assignedKey Performance Indicators:
    • Task completion while remaining compliant with safety rules and guidelines
    • Reduce downtime of equipment and increase operational effectiveness and product quality
    • Improved service level and response timePosition Requirements: -
      • Associates Degree in Engineering or related- preferred
      • 3+ years with electrical troubleshooting in manufacturing environment
      • Experience with vendor management and relationship buildingKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
        • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and safety procedures
        • Clear communication including effective writing and interpersonal skills
        • Skilled with Microsoft office
        • Ability to organize and prioritize work
