Summary

  • Young Livings Global Philanthropy Department is looking for a professional nonprofit copywriter that is experienced, hardworking, and detail-oriented to fill the Senior Content Specialist and Copywriter position with The D. Gary Yong, Young Living Foundation. The Young Living Foundations mission is to Protect and Empower the Worlds Young, and we achieve this mission through championing education, developing enterprise, and ending exploitation.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience writing for charitable organizations and have some degree of international development experience. If you love making a difference through storytelling and driving engagement, then we want you on our team. You will be responsible for developing and editing the written copy of all areas for the Young Living Foundation, which will include conveying impact, telling stories, fundraising, and giving updates. You will collaborate closely with our marketing, development, and program teams to understand content needs, and develop written copy effectively, meaningfully and clearly.

Essential Functions

  • Be able to write clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy for Young Living Foundation, with the intended audience being Young Living brand partners, customers, and employees. Copy may include:
  • Landing pages on website
  • Fundraising campaigns
  • Salesforce donor journeys
  • Blog (including strategy and creation)
  • Newsletters
  • Annual Report
  • Brochures
  • Scriptwriting
  • Press kit material
  • Other copy as assigned
  • Use data, research, and your creative instincts to shape brand narratives and creative content that resonates with different types of audiences and driving them to action.
  • Ensure content is consistent in brand voice, style, and tone.
  • Help plan social media content and campaign calendars that account for the Foundation objectives and goals.
  • Lead on editing Foundation team copy on various projects.
  • Conducts project research and interviews to ensure subject matter understanding.
  • Responsible for overall story mining with Foundation partners and YL brand partners.
  • Manage project workflow while coordinating with internal teams on schedules, requirements, goals, and assignments as needed.
  • Keep up with industry and competitor marketing trends.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures for the department.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Able to work independently in pacing and balancing workload, while also thriving in a collaborative environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment

  • This job operates in both a professional office environment and an at-home setting. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, photocopiers, shredders, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused. The employee must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. in Journalism, English, Communications or related field and/or 34 years of equivalent experience required.
  • The ideal candidate will have international development experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a portfolio and a track history of success with copywriting for both nonprofit and for profit copy creation.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A masters degree (non-technical discipline), multi-craft skills acquired through extensive on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, in-depth industry and job -specific technical skills acquired through a combination of formal instruction and on-the-job training, or experience to carry out limited projects involving the use of specialized, complicated techniques and 7+ years of similar or related experience.
