Experience: 3-5 years of PICU experience, 1 years of travel
experience required License: Current RN License in state of
practice Certifications: BLS Certification for Healthcare
Providers, PALS Certification Must-Have: - Ability to communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing - Basic computer skills -
Flexibility to float to any ICU and floor - Ability to take care of
ventilator patients - Experience with titrating medications,
including pressors - Experience working with central lines,
arterial lines, and IV pumps - Ability to transport patients with
ventilators Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) in Pediatric
Intensive Care is a professional caregiver who assumes
responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning,
implementing, and evaluating care for patients. This role utilizes
the nursing process by employing technology, therapeutic
intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care
with other health team members. Essential Job Duties: Assessment
involves performing appropriate evaluations of physical, social,
and psychological status, including cognitive and communicative
skills as appropriate. Information from other members of the
interdisciplinary team, patients, families, and support staff is
assessed and utilized. Planning includes the development of
individualized plans of care through collaborative approach using
assessment information and critical thinking skills. Patient,
family, team, and physician involvement is sought for plan
development, including necessary education. Collaboration is
emphasized to prepare patients for further support needs once
current episode of care outcomes are achieved. Implementation
involves directing interdisciplinary care through delegation,
coordination, and collaboration as appropriate. Care is provided or
delegated in line with the plan of care, guidelines, and
professional licensure provisions. The RN demonstrates the ability
to set priorities and effectively manage time, supplies, and
resources. Evaluation requires assessment of patient responses to
interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical
outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Plans of care are revised as
indicated, and reassessments are conducted as appropriate.
Professionalism includes promoting the nursing profession and
participating in the development of others. Legal and ethical
standards are integrated into practice, with compliance to
regulatory standards and timely documentation. Physical
requirements include the ongoing need to see and read information
accurately, frequent interaction with patients and healthcare
providers, and manual dexterity for operating equipment. Lifting,

standing for extended periods may also be necessary. Preferred
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited
