Summary

Young Living is looking for a highly qualified event professional to help spearhead the future of of this ever-evolving world, while strategizing and executing on the current standard. The Director of Events plays a significant role in developing the framework of events and shaping new ideas, while maintaining an emphasis on experience and budget ownership. This individual must thrive under high-pressure situations, have an abilty to build rapport with both internal and external clientele, must be able to manage and keep tight deadlines while remaining eternally flexible, mentor and lead a team, and deliver incredible experiences.

Essential Functions

* Manage the development and team's execution of Young Living recognition retreats, global incentive trips, conventions, grand openings, and other events as needed, as assigned.
* Act as the main point of contact for all events onsite and in the planning process for assigned events, working with the Executive Director of Events on pre-determined critical touch points or strategies. Internal meetings held, requiring updates for the owned event, should be led by the Director.
* Human resource management, i.e., management of day-to-day responsibilities of direct reports, inclusive of daily huddles, performance reviews, goal setting and regular one-on-ones. Must be able to create an execution plan and delegate responsibilities according to that plan and have the ability to identify individuals throughout the company whose skills and responsibilities can be utilized for these events and manage them in a manner that is consistent with execution plan.
* Communication with those in high level positions will be involved in the role, being able to work and communicate efficient with executives, Regional Presidents, other individuals with Young Living, and outside vendors.
* Creation and management of events budgets, as assigned. Spends must be thoroughly recorded within spreadsheets so they can be referenced for future events.
* Work with Directors/Sr. Directors on the Events Team to continually develop and maintain an event management guide for all marketing and sales personnel globally on how to effectively execute Young Living's grand conventions, regional events, both domestic and international, grand openings, recognition retreats, and individual incentive trips.
* Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations with event venues, travel agencies, hotels, transportation services, catering, speakers, entertainment, and other outside/contract services.
* Work closely with the Executive Director/VP of Events, expound and create the overall event experience to leverage Young Living's leaders and the impact of events in their business.
* Develop the overarching global events strategy in collaboration with the VP of global events, executive staff, and other strategic stakeholders.

* Problem solving-Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. * Cost consciousness-Works within approved budget; develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and revenue; conserves organizational resources.

Able to take the lead on decision making that positively effects the teams, company, event, and attendees.
* Planning/organizing-Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans. Implements a way of effective tracking for self and team member.
* Process driven. Event development should start with an initial RFP that outlines the parameters of each event, submit it to various locations/venues, and generate a report that outlines possible locations/venues. Include rental rates, room blocks, F&B minimums, city sites and attractions, travel requirements, and other details.
* Manages risk-Protect resources by providing a safe and accident-free environment.
* Leadership - This role is heavily dominate with a leadership mind set. Being able to confidently move forward, make decisions, and lead a team to success. Being able to manage people, situations, and items effectively and ethically on your own. Setting the standard and tone for your team and morale.
* Ownership - It is crucial this individual possesses ownership traits and skills through their workload. Being able to delegate, follow up, deliver and own every step of the way beginning to end on an event and within their team.
* Conceptual understanding of multilevel marketing industry and the importance events play in our success, including creativity and new idea generation.
* Must have experience with the contracts associated with events (hotels, caterers, convention centers, production companies, etc.), be able to evaluate those contracts for potential cost savings, and be comfortable negotiating for better parameters.
* Being able to set, meet, and exceed standards, expectations, deadlines, and full embodiment of execution is a must with this role, as well as being able to instill those standards and clear expectations in the team you lead.

This job does supervise 2+ employees.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The company operates on a hybrid ways of working policy, determined by the manager.The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, photocopiers, shredders, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment. Work environment also changes quite frequently with travel.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift office supplies, luggage, and boxes up to 30 pounds.

Job Type/Expected Hours of Work

This job requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Flexibility with an event schedule is required, this includes travel and working through the weekend and longer hours on an event week. Occasional black-out dates (dates on which you are not allowed to take time off) will be required and provided when determined. These are based on the event schedule and needs surrounding that schedule.

Education and Experience

Five+ years of related experience and/or training, five+ years supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
